At an underground coal mine in Slovenia, the operator was looking for a high-performance, ATEX-compliant solution for anchor bonding and cavity grouting. The two-component materials used are characterized by a high filler content and place high demands on flow rate, material pressure, and the reliability of the system technology. At the same time, the systems must meet the specific space constraints and safety requirements of underground mining.
Together with our partner in the Balkans, RSI Systems GmbH, a WIWA INJECT 2K 1:1 23030 N/GS in an ATEX M2 configuration was initially tested in the mine in September 2025 and successfully put into operation. During the test phase, the system impressed with its high flow rate, consistent material pressure, and reliable processing of the materials used. However, the pump proved to be too large for the customer’s underground space constraints and work processes.
Based on the insights gained, WIWA proposed the WIWA INJECT 2K 1:1 14025-GX N/F in an ATEX M2 version as a more compact alternative. The system was successfully commissioned in February 2026 and tested under real-world operating conditions. The combination of compact design, high flow rate, and reliable material pressure fully convinced the customer. Following successful testing, the system was accepted and has been in continuous use in the Slovenian coal mining industry ever since. It is used for anchor bonding with 2K silicates as well as for void grouting with slow-reacting 2K materials. These applications contribute to the stabilization of adits and tunnels, increase the stability of the rock mass, and enhance safety in mining operations. Thanks to its ATEX M2 certification, the system meets the requirements for use in potentially explosive areas of coal mines. At the same time, its compact design ensures high flexibility and ease of handling underground.
