General responsibilities to include (but not limited to):
Verifies items to be purchased according to need and/or customer orders; clarifying unclear items; recommending alternatives.
Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items
Obtains purchased items by forwarding orders to suppliers; monitoring and expediting orders.
Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; resolves shipments in error with suppliers.
Authorizes payment for purchases by forwarding receiving documentation.
Keeps information accessible by sorting and filing documents.
Provides purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
Accomplishes purchasing and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
Cross training with other company functions and positions as required.
Desired education, experience and/or skills:
HS Diploma, Associate’s degree preferred
2+ years in a purchasing role or related field desired
Knowledge of importation and exportation formalities desired
Must possess good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
Experience with Sage accounting software preferred
Applicant should be mechanically inclined
German language skills a plus, but not required
